Projects / Treasure Island Toys

Business
Treasure Island Toys is an in-house project.  The idea was to start an online store selling only the finest quality traditional wooden and soft toys aswell as children's furniture and furnishings.

It has been credited with invigorating the stale online independent toy retailer industry by some of the industry's most well known characters.

Within a year of trading Treasure Island Toys had been shortlisted for 'Online Toy Retailer of the Year' along with:

  • Amazon
  • Argos
  • Littlewood Shop Direct
  • The Entertainer

Unfortunately they were pipped at the post by Argos for the award, but they done very well to even get shortlisted as it was very much David vs Goliath, and shows what can be achieved by small companies with a lot of hard work.

Technical
The website has been designed to be as user friendly as possibly, as well as being a really bright, colourful, and beautiful website.

It uses the very latest technologies, which include AJAX page reloads, allowing users to refine and amend the searches with the results changing instantly without the need for an entire page reload.  This greatly speeds up and makes the users experience much more pleasant.

The website is controlled using comprehensive CMS and stock control systems.

Treasure Island Toys has been planned, designed, imlemented and maintained entirely by Tinit, and is definitely our most fun project.

When designing the website and branding thought that the company needed a mascot, something that people would recognise and immediately think of us, just like Ronald McDonald for McDonalds and Jeffrey the Giraffe for Toys R Us.  With this in mind, Kavan created Bertie the Pirate, named after Nigels newborn son, and many other characters.  These can be seen throughout the website aswell as on most of the printed marketing material.
