FBTC approached TiNiT to create a low cost website which used data from their internal database. The internal database is an MS Access based system and the requirement was to build a solution which had as little impact on the internal software and company`s internal workings as possible.
The approach taken was that by far the most cost effective solution would be to build a seperate web database and a seperate data transfer tool that copies data to and from the two databases.
Clients can log into the FBTC website and change their details which are then downloaded to the internal database. Because the internal database has been built by a third party there is no way in which it can be told when records have been added/deleted or updated so the entire online database is replaced each evening after changes have been downloaded.
The outcome is that FBTC did not have to make any changes to their existing database and the online database has all of the latest data.
